A perspective on love and relationships...

Posted by Jewels Rafter on September 22, 2014 at 4:15 PM

Through the years, as I rode this roller coaster called life, it has brought about a greater understanding about people and love. Along this journey, I have learnt that people's words don't mean a thing unless their actions confirm the same. Anyone can tell you they love you. But can they back up their words with concrete actions; real acts of genuine love, admiration, passion, and respect for you? Or do they hold back, waiting just in case a better or younger option comes along.

All I know, is that we are creatures fueled by the need to be loved and accepted. As children, we often form a fantasy of what real love looks like. And generally, this entails ideologies of perfect mates, ideal situations and happily ever after. Unfortunately, we are blinded by fantasy because we are bombarded with images, movies, and songs claiming that love conquers all! The only thing I can say to that is....NONSENSE!!

I believe, however, that genuine love between two people does exist. A connection between two souls is real and genuine when it comes without conditions. I believe if you truly love someone you love them with all their imperfections and qualities. If you can see past people's humanly flaws, if you can stand strong and devoted in hard times, if you can let down your guard and let others see the inner you, if you can open your scarred heart and give yourself completely and without hesitation, if you can hold your partner so close that their energy merges with yours... then and only then can you know the true meaning of unconditional love.

If you are ever graced with this kind of devotion or connection with another soul, cherish it... as the universe has given you a gift worth more than you can imagine....
